We are a non-profit organization aimed at educating the general public and health care professionals about what doulas are and how we can be beneficial to expectant families and the healthcare system.
Welcome to the Fort McMurray Doula Association's site!
For centuries women have tended to and supported other women as they go through the transformation from woman to mother. This support can happen for a woman prior to conception, during pregnancy, birth, and after the birth of the baby. In many countries around the globe, including North America, this is an every day experience for expecting families. These supportive women are called Doulas.
Lucky for our city of Fort McMurray, we have the Fort McMurray Doula Association, a place to find and meet local doulas who are happy to support you and your decisions during birth and the post partum period. We are always looking to have Doulas join our group. We have brought doula training workshops to the Fort McMurray area in the past. We hope to do it again in the future. As doulas we are active members in the community and provide a free community program - Birth Choices - Prenatal Information Sessions at The Hub downtown on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm (www.birthchoices.org).
